As a quick reference, we have included the basics of being a contributor below. We do however, recommend you familiarize yourself with all the contributor info before signing up. You can download this information in the form of a PDF by clicking HERE which tells you everything you need to know.

Contribute FAQ

  1. Why Contribute?
    • You can make money! If your images are selected they will be placed in the gallery for sale and you make 50% of the sale price.

    • Its all about the art….show off your Hip prowess to the world.

  2. Does it cost anything?
    • Yes, The Hip Gallery charges a small fee for reviewing and processing your images. Every image is reviewed by at least one of our panel of professional photographers. This ensures only the best images are selected, giving our buyers a superior shopping experience.

      The cost is $1 for every 10 images submitted and/or upload occurrence. For example:

       1-10 images $1
       11-20 images $2
       21-30 images $3
       31-40 images $4
       41-50 images $5 etc.

      An upload occurrence happens when you click the upload button.

  3. Are there any requirements for submitting photos?
    • Your images must be captured using the Hipstamatic photography app.

    • Your images must be a minimum of 1536 px x 1536 px resolution and be in .jpg file format

  4. How are the images sold?
    • Your images will be sold with two license options: Standard Usage and Rights Managed Full usage. See our "agreements" section under the about us tab for more info.

  5. How do I get paid?
    • The Hip Gallery will pay out commissions quarterly according to the following schedule:

      • 1st Quarter (January - March) will be paid no later than April 30th
      • 2nd Quarter (April - June) will be paid no later than July 31st
      • 3rd Quarter (July - September) will be paid no later than October 31st
      • 4th Quarter (October - December) Will be paid no later than January 31st
    • You must have a current paypal account to receive your payments.

Here's how it works:

  • Step 1:
    Use the "photographer register or login" link at the top of the page, or click HERE to get to the registration form. Enter your personal info and agree to the contributor agreement.

  • Step 2:
    Click "Media Manager Tab".

  • Step 3:
    Select "Upload Images"

  • Step 4:
    Choose your upload package and click continue.

  • Step 5:
    Confirm your purchase and click "Buy Now". You may also enter promo codes here if applicable.

  • Step 6:
    Follow instructions on entering your payment information. Note - if you do not have a paypal account you can easily create one from this window.

  • Step 7:
    Browse for your images. Note - While you can select more images than you have purchased, the system will only upload the number of images you paid for. It will upload in the order they appear in the window, so if you accidentally choose more images than purchased, the images at the bottom will not import.

  • Step 8:
    Click Upload and your images should show up in the server.

  • Step 9:
    YOU’RE DONE. Your images will now go through our review process. Accepted images will typically appear in the gallery within two weeks of submission, but could take up to one month. You can search for your images by typing your user name in the search bar.
